Got Bob Caccamo’s direct mail today too. It’s very…. orange. At least it stands out from the other campaign literature.
Content-wise, Mr. Caccamo has a little (very little) more detail in his bullet points than other candidates. Under the category of “Economic Security For Our Future” he lists “Work closely with GPEC and the Chandler Chamber of Commerce to attract high quality jobs opportunities with better pay for Chandler residents.” Not earth shattering, but better than Jeff Weninger’s “Continue to reach out to the teen community to explore and build unique recreational options i.e. (skate park and bmx park).” (sic)
By the way, GPEC stands for the Greater Phoenix Economic Council, and they work on economic development for the Phoenix area.
So, back to Bob’s direct mailer. “Economic Security” is spelled E-C-O-N, not E-C-O-M. And I’d rethink the color. Who’s approving the marketing materials?
Becky Jackson is another candidate I really want to like. She is the President and CEO of the Chandler Chamber of Commerce, so she understands issues relating to small business.
I received Ms. Jackson’s direct mailer today, and my initial reaction is (YAWN).
I can’t think of a more boring piece of campaign literature I’ve received, that has told me less about the candidate. The piece is incredibly generic with no details whatsoever. As I related in my prior analysis, the Jackson campaign website is little more than an internet billboard with generic slogans that tell us little about the candidate’s views. (more…)
The Amazing Jake’s mailbox has been overflowing of late with direct mail pieces from various candidates. I posted on some prior direct mail here.
Jeff Weninger has been busy. Yesterday I received the exact same piece he sent a few weeks ago. That’s right, the one where he took up a third of one side with a picture of him slouching with Senator McCain, not wearing a suit. The same one that listed “No service fee increases” and “No property tax increases” at the end of a long list of generic priorities like “Provide Police and Fire with every resource needed to fully safe guard the citizens of Chandler.” That’s great Jeff. We all want increased police and fire protection, including me. What I want to know is, HOW are you going to provide that, especially since you’re also promising no service fee increases and no property tax increases. (more…)
So, some genius figured out that we’ve been without rain in Phoenix longer than we’ve been without baseball. Big deal – we live in a desert, and if we wanted rain all the time we’d be in Seattle. But that’s another story.
Spring has officially returned with the first day of spring training! The Diamondbacks won against the White Sox 9-2. I’ve been a big D-Backs fan since the franchise was first announced, although I have to admit I’ve been a bit of a fair weather fan since Bob Brenly was fired. I didn’t quite keep up with the team last season and didn’t get to watch very many games. I plan to correct that deficiency this season, and will get caught up on the new lineup at a great blog dedicated to the Diamondbacks – AZ Snake Pit. Check it out.
